Homes Designed for a Lifetime
Keep People Mobile
Interview Opportunities during the IBS in Las Vegas
Aging home owners may see a beautiful set of stairs as a barrier that drives them from their homes earlier than they anticipated. There is record population aging - the U.S. over-65 age group will grow at a rate nearly four times faster than the population as a whole in the next 20 years, according to the U.S. Census Bureau. In the U.S., the disability rate among senior citizens is on the rise by 9% since the last five years, new research from University of California Berkeley has found, last December.
What does it take to age gracefully in your own home? How can a home suit the broadest possible range of people’s abilities without compromising style? Whether it be building a home with an elevator now for added convenience or providing stacked closets for later installation, planning easy access to the entire home is a trend in universal design homes that can last a lifetime.
During the International Builder’s Show in Las Vegas – January 19 to 22 – take advantage of an opportunity to any of our experts in universal design and home elevators.

“If you determine that cities must become denser to satisfy the population growth while limiting the ecological footprint then yes residential elevators are more than an amenity, they are a necessity. By changing the way we fund the inclusion of residential elevators, it can actually help provide personal independence in the home.”

President of Designable Environments

“Given the vast numbers of the current generation of aging baby boomers, it is clear that the demand for residential elevators will continue to grow. Many older adults are planning to remain in their homes as they age. Renovation to facilitate “aging-in-place” is becoming much more common – including the use of residential elevators to provide a safe and convenient means of moving between levels.”

Thomas A. Baum
President
Bozzuto Homes
"Home elevators most certainly had a profound effect on the value of the Maple Lawn project, in several ways. It increased our marketability for a wider range of clients, opening up to older and younger buyers alike, and changed our client’s age average to 49 years old, not a typical age to buy a multi-level unit without an elevator. Many customers in their sixties would not have made the choice to live in a two-level condo without an elevator. As a result, our sales pace increased: we would not be selling at this fast pace if it weren’t for the elevators.”
